Songs about Hippies or with a Hippy Vibe

I’m a Hippie – Spek

The Hippie Movement was a Counterculture movement that really took off in the mid 1960’s originally as a Youth movement in the USA, spreading worldwide. It’s origins stretch far back in time though. To this day this era in history is viewed with great nostalgia due to the amazing musical talent that emerged during this time, the fashions, the freedom, the anti-war and pro-peace ethos, love of nature, the travel, the spirituality, psychedelic drugs, art and sense of community. An iconic time.

Here’s a few good songs about Hippies or with a Hippy vibe, old and new from different eras.

Baba O’Reilly – The Who

I wish I was a Punk Rocker – Sandi Thom

Hippy Hippy Shakes – The Swinging Blue Jeans

Woodstock – Matthews Southern Comfort

San Francisco – Scott McKenzie

California Dreamin’ – The Mamas and The Papas

Safety Dance- Men Without Hats

        1. Well that must have been fun. I just watched a bit of that on youtube. Hee hee. Yes where have all the long haired people gone?! I love the long haired look. When I see a long haired guy now I stare and marvel in amazement and wonder. 😉 Subtly of course…

  1. i was a hippie back in the day….i remember when my friends asked me if i wanted to go to Woodstock with them….i was so spaced out i didn’t know what Woodstock even was, and i didn’t care to go ….now i could kick myself…..but i was a pothead, dropped acid, did mescaline, saw Jimi Hendrix LIVE, hitchhiked all the time, and always got picked up by someone smoking weed & always wound up stoned everywhere i went….haha
