You will always find him in the kitchen at parties….
“You will always find me in the kitchen at parties” was a popular song from 1980 that I always loved. 🙂 It was written by Jona Lewie and Keef Trouble. Jona Lewie was an English songwriter, singer and multi instrumentalist. He performed this song and sang lead vocals. You may remember Lewie’s other famous song “Stop the Cavalry”.
Chart Success
This song was a success in the UK singles chart reaching Number 16 for 11 weeks. It had it’s greatest success in New Zealand where it entered the top 40 for 17 weeks peaking at Number 3.
IKEA Advert
In 2010 the song was used in an IKEA Advert which I absolutely loved and is my favourite IKEA advert and it totally does not take away from the coolness of the song. It just reminds you how good it was. It was performed by “Man Like Me” and features Jona Lewie as the host of the party. Have another look and see if you can spot him. I’m not sure if he is busy preparing some food or actually attempting to do some washing up.
The Best Kitchen Party Song or Tune for washing up to
“You will always find me in the kitchen at parties” is a popular kitchen party song. It is also a song that might make washing up more fun. Originally it’s about a guy that wants to avoid the main party people and hang out in the kitchen which is more quiet and maybe chat up a girl. But nowadays kitchen’s can be crazy places! Anyway here is an explanation from the man himself as to what it is all about…

you’re dealing with a 62-year old accounting teacher here – not exactly the definition of pop culture literate! 🙂
