God I miss the Eighties…

Missing the 1980s

Saw this Eighties Movie Tribute/ Music video on Social Media today and it made me feel Nostalgic. And also lucky that I grew up in the 1980’s as I thought it was a great decade. Listening to the Music Charts and buying records was a big part of that.

With the way the world is now, starting to feel quite scary and Dystopian and controlled it makes you see these times as Golden. I thought maybe it was because I grew up then but my younger niece said she loved the Eighties too. I honestly think the 60s, 70s and 80s were very special decades. Creatively and Musically. For me the music of those decades stands out.

There was a freshness and an innocence about the 80s, there were lots of love songs and feel good music and movies. There was a lot of FUN and a lot of DANCE and a lot of COLOUR.

Anyway I have not been able to write as much as my laptop has not been working and it is proving a bit of a nightmare to get a new one that has what I want. Long story! This is my first time using Block Editor on WordPress and I really do not like it at all. Eek!!!! Need to figure out how to revert to Classic Editor! I much preferred that.

On the subject of the 1980’s Freddie Mercury would have been 74 today. What an absolute LEGEND he was. Total icon with a high level of Personal Magneticism, Talent, Charisma, Confidence and Personality.

Can’t wait until cinema going, music concerts and travel are a normal part of life again. I don’t like Dystopia. Once I get a new laptop sorted I will be back to writing more frequently. Have lots of cool photos to share. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here’s Freddie Mercury performing Radio Ga Ga at Live Aid in 1985. I remember watching that on TV at the time. I even had the T-shirt. EPIC Concert.

  1. Oh!!! Iโ€™ve missed your posts! I post from my cell as we have crap internet and they make you pay extra if you go over. On the WP app it gives you a choice whether to use the block or classic, I too prefer the latter. Yes the world is a bit of a mess now, hopefully in time it will come back. Imagine having an idiot running your country through this mess like we are here in the states. I hope that he is voted out come November 5th.

    1. I’m on my phone now but on my laptop that’s about to conk out it didn’t give me the option to revert to classic editor. It did before. Will have to mess about with it. Yes world’s in political turmoil. I don’t watch the news or have a TV but you still get it all online whether you want it or not. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

  2. I love Freddie Mercury was definitely his own person personally and creatively. Yes definitely nostalgic for the 60s through the 80s also.

  3. I just got into the Cobra Kai series, and in it were references to its original Karate Kid scenes, and boy did I share your nostalgia on the eighties just yesterday. Great to be reminded of this through this post. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks for your comment. I’ve never heard of that series but I did love The Karate Kid and of course the music that went along with it. ๐Ÿ˜„ A few of my friends were nostalgic for the 80s yesterday too. It must be in the air. ๐Ÿ’•

      1. You should definitely check it out if you’re in the mood for nostalgia, especially seeing how Danny and Johnny are played by the exact same people (they’re so old now). They’ve also maintained the 80s feel of cheesiness, music, and references! Lol.

  4. I agree with you about the 60โ€™s 70โ€™s and 80โ€™s being special !!! You really know your stuff too !!! Youโ€™ve made me aware of so much more !!! I hate the new block editor too and complained to WordPress about it … thereโ€™s nothing we can do …. they canโ€™t revert back to the classic … THEY GOT RID OF IT !!!! We love you and miss you , hope you get a new laptop soon ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

  5. I just discovered i now have the choice to go back to classic when I wanted to write something !!!!!!

They must of gotten lots of complaints and decided to reinstall it !!!! YIPPIE !!!!!!

  6. glad you’re back writing. I have not had to switch yet to the Block Editor – not looking forward to it. And that performance by Freddie at Live Aid was special. I am a big fan of the 70s…

  7. I’ve tried writing from phone. It’s ok for comments like this but not great for general posts as too easy to make mistakes. Think I’m going to get a refurbished laptop as don’t like the new ones. Hopefully then you are able to bypass the block. ๐Ÿ˜ณ And yes Freddie Mercury was one of the greatest performers of all time. ๐ŸŒŸ

  8. I haven’t seen the movie about Freddie Mercury and Queen yet, but since the kid from Mr. Robot is the star, it MUST be amazing, ’cause he’s pretty amazing.
I, too, have fond memories of the ’70s and actually disliked the ’80s intensely, lol !! My husband thinks I’m crazy and goes berserk if I listen to something like “Ventura Highway” or “Barry White’s Love Theme.”
Good luck with your computer woes. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. That was a brilliant movie. Well worth watching. Wow I didn’t know anyone could dislike the 80s ha! ๐ŸŽต๐ŸŽถ Everyone has their favourite and least favourite decades I guess. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  9. That was a fun clip! Couldn’t think of anything I was missing there ๐Ÿ˜‰ Nice to see you back! There’s an app to use the old editor but for apps on WP you need a pro plan …

  10. When you go to your home page click on WP admin, it should take you to your dashboard, click on the push pin symbol, click add new. I’m sure there is a better way to get there but that is the backwards way I get to it. I’m an old dog and some time the new tricks don’t do it for me lol. I loved this little trip down memory lane. Earlier today BTS was on the tv at work and one of my coworkers started picking on them…”are they girls or boys” etc. My response…”My bands from the 80’s wore more makeup and used more hairspray than I did, and that didn’t make them less hot.” I love my hairbands! She agreed and was quiet for once. I graduated high school in 1989, I always figured that’s why I love this genre so much. I still appreciate the 60’s and 70’s as well…even some of the 90’s. It all depends on my mood. I hope you get your new computer soon, I always enjoy your posts! Have a great day!!

  11. Hey Hippie! I hear you loud and clear. The 80’s were “touched” and it seemed like nothing could go wrong most of the time. We were free from everything. No computers, smart phones, i pods…Just living the adventure.
    I still don’t have a smart phone.
The world is not the same. Not even close.

    1. Yep it’s not the same. Instead of living in an 80s movie with nice colourful clothes and great music where anything could happen and life was full of potential and adventure we’re living in a Dystopian Sci fi Horror with a really bad script where holidays and music concerts are a thing of the past. As well as freedom of thought. Footloose is mild compared to this world. It’s like a bad dream.
